Check Employer Evidence As An International Student
Keep the original posting, employer evidence and unanswered questions separate. Build a clearer starting point for your international student job search.

A promising role, a historical employer record and your own eligibility are different questions. Keep the source attached to each one so you know what to check next.
Start With The Original Posting
Before collecting opinions about an employer, open the role on the employer's own careers site. Read the location, timing, responsibilities and stated requirements. Save the original link and the description you reviewed. If a detail is absent, leave it as an open question instead of filling the gap with an assumption.
This gives you a specific opportunity to assess. Advice about a company in general may describe a different role, office or recruiting period.
Separate The Evidence From The Conclusion
The U.S. Department of Labor publishes disclosure data drawn from foreign labor application systems. Its explanation notes that records include employer-provided information, can contain anomalies and omit some cases. Record the source and period before using a result in your research.
A historical record can support a question worth asking. It does not, by itself, establish that a particular role is open, that the employer will sponsor that role or that you're eligible. A missing record does not establish the opposite either.
- Posting: What does this particular role actually say?
- Historical evidence: What was recorded, by whom and for which period?
- Unknown: What still needs an answer from an appropriate source?
A Fictional Example
Imagine a student reviewing a fictional analyst internship. The posting asks for spreadsheet analysis and summer availability. A historical employer record appears in a separate source, but the posting does not answer the student's sponsorship question.
A useful research note would say: "The role fits my analysis experience. I still need to clarify the requirements for this opening." Writing "sponsorship confirmed" would go beyond the evidence. The next step is clarification, not a stronger label.
Keep The Opportunity Moving
In Jobs And Employer Evidence, add the employer, original posting link and job description manually. Choose an application stage that reflects what you have actually done. When you are ready, start a resume from the saved role. Changing a stage records progress; it does not apply for you.
Before taking the next step, reopen the original posting to check whether its details changed. For questions about your own work authorization, bring the exact posting and your questions to the appropriate international-student adviser or qualified professional. Keep their guidance separate from a general employer record.
